Ingredients

  • 1  lb flank steak (or sirloin, skirt steak, or lean ground beef)
  • 2  cups  broccoli florets (fresh or frozen)
  • 2  tablespoons  vegetable oil (divided)
  • 2  teaspoons minced garlic
  • 2  teaspoons minced ginger
  • 1/4 cup oyster sauce
  • 1/4 cup  beef broth (or water)
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 2  teaspoons sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1  tablespoon cornstarch
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Cook the Broccoli: Heat 1 teaspoon of vegetable oil in a large frying pan or wok over medium heat. Add the broccoli florets and sauté for about 4 minutes until tender yet crisp. Remove and set aside.
  • Cook the Beef: In the same pan, add another tablespoon of vegetable oil and increase the heat to high. Season the beef with salt and pepper, then add to the pan in a single layer. Cook for 3-4 minutes per side until browned. Remove and set aside.
  • Add Garlic and Ginger: Add the minced garlic and ginger to the pan and stir-fry for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  • Make the Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the oyster sauce, beef broth, sugar, sesame oil, and soy sauce. In another small bowl, mix cornstarch with 1 tablespoon of cold water to create a slurry.
  • Combine Beef and Broccoli: Return the beef and broccoli to the pan. Pour the sauce over the mixture and stir to coat everything evenly. Add the cornstarch slurry and bring the sauce to a boil. Cook for another 1-2 minutes or until the sauce has thickened.
  • Serve and Enjoy: Serve immediately over rice, noodles, or cauliflower rice for a low-carb option.
