Equipment

  • Mixing bowl (preferably metal)
  • Hand mixer or stand mixer
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Rubber spatula
  • Piping bag and tip (optional)

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups cold heavy whipping cream
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch or instant pudding mix optional, for stability
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions
 

  • Chill the mixing bowl and beaters for about 10 minutes.
  • Pour cold heavy whipping cream into the bowl.
  • Beat on medium speed until the cream starts to thicken.
  • Add powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and salt.
  • Continue whipping until stiff peaks form.
  • Stop mixing immediately and use the frosting right away.

Notes

Always use cold cream for best results.
Do not overwhip or the texture will turn grainy.
Chill the frosting if it becomes soft before using.
Best used on chilled cakes or desserts.
